Umm...can I just say that this lady should be expelled from her career in education? She should be excommunicated for the Gds sake. On an intellectual level any decent student should've questioned everything they ever learned at the institution which hired her. For Judaism's future, this woman should not teach! This is probably on the top 10 list of the most retarded things BY teachers have ever said.
Hasn't it ever occured to her that not ALL children go to BY? Infact, MOST of them attend Public Schools and Parochial schools and MOST are drug free as well.
Considering it is obvious the teacher meant that without B"Y students would all be enrolled in Public School's smoking and getting high goes to show how oblivious this woman is about the "outside" world's reality. Her ignorance should be a tool used towards firing her! This woman isn't worth the tuition dollars that are being used to pay her. I'm sure the school could hire someone better informed and smarter especially since my sister's school is on the modern side!!
Immoral story (Before I say it, keep in mind its the teachers friend that said this):

Firstly that is DISGUSTING to say about anyone, whether Jews were or were not hurt. Secondly, this is just a bizarre way to further prove that frum education SUCKS. Wouldn't this teachers friend atleast KNOW that India is mostly a super peaceful Hindu country? A country in which the people would rarely even consider hurting a roach?
Like I said...it is DISGUSTING no matter who this is in reference too, but atleast had she been referring to Iran, Morrocco, Lebanan, Syria, Jordan even Pakistan, alteast then her point would've made PARTIAL sense. But not only was she DISGUSTING (as terrorists are a loud MINORITY in those countries, definitly not the overall majority), but she made no sense whatsoever with her point.
What sickens me, is that the teacher did not say anything negative about what her friend has said, which shows, the teacher approved of what her friend said until she heard Jews were hurt as well!

Also, whenever there's a pro Israel parade or something in NY, you can be sure that the Sikhs are there too. Indians love everyone, except for Muslims and are very pro Jews because of this.

I am not comprehendings what you are talkings about.
1.Perhaps she has an inside scoop on the type of people that go to B"Y/ perhaps these people would end up on drugs with out B"Y, but since they are in B"Y they are not. Perhaps she was just insulting all jewish girls, and not putting down the general population.
2.Hindu people worship cows, and that is avod zara. she must have meant that the idol worshipers should get what is coming to them. But when she heard it was Jews involved, well then the story changed.

Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey are actually home to sizable Jewish comminities, which live in security at the moment.
(The most recent large scale violence in those countries was when they were waging war to regain their independance from the European powers in the 50's and 60's).
To "immoral," you can add "ignorant." India has lost more people to terrorism in the last year than any other country except Iraq. They already know what it feels like.

I went to a "modern" day school and when it came time to chose between attending the separate high school or the co-ed high school a teacher remarked that obviously attending the co-ed high school would result in a teenage pregnancy and pressure to "look good for the boys all the time." now, I would argue that attending BY would have the highest risk of teenage pregnancy with girls getting married at 18... but ya know, whatever. the joke was that the girls who went to the separate high school were the ones who freaked out the most when the boys came around and wore more makeup than a model off the pages of vogue.
It is heartbreaking and disgusting that Jews express these views when human beings are callously murdered. When the malachim rejoiced at kri'at yam suf didn't hashem remind them that his creations were dying and how could they possibly sing? who taught these people and how did they so twist the message to make their version of Judaism utterly unrecognizable from its source?

i never get it how putting down public schools makes one seem "frummer". why does anyone have to put someone else down to make themselves look "better" these teachers should concentrate more on emphasizing the positves that makes being a frum jew better by attending bais yaakov and ignore whats bad about other institutions. cant bais yaakov seem good on its own merrit? or is that their point?? i hope not.

Ok, now with the second one I agree with you. That was my reaction when I heard about the Jewish boys who attached Arabs by a Dunkin Donuts, I was not impressed with them. I don't think Jews should ever stoop to low levels to show "them" what it's like.
Now about the first one, I can see why that would get you upset. But untill I started college I had thought the same way. I don't know if my school had taught that public school kids are bad, or it was just some unspoken thing that everyone seemed to agree on. Public school was always made to sound scary. This could be because the news is always about bad stuff, so it was always in the news about little kids playing with guns and killing teachers and students and all the other bad things. So could be your sisters teacher got it into her head because that was all she ever heard about public school. The news won't really talk about how good the kids are or anything, and in an area where it's mostly Jews there's not really any other place where they would find out about this stuff.
